Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) envisions a world in which students everywhere are empowered to respect others and choose to lead lives free from violence, substance abuse, and other dangerous behaviors.

Club Plans: D.A.R.E follows a curriculum that is based on the Socio-Emotional Learning Theory (SEL), which identifies fundamental, basic skill and developmental process needed for healthy development including:

  • Self-Awareness and management
  • Responsible Decision Making
  • Understanding Others
  • Relationship and Communication Skills
  • Handling Responsibilities and Challenges
  •

SEL teaches youth to control their impulses and think about risks and consequences resulting in more responsible choices. This is a ten week course that is educated by the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff Office. At the end of the ten weeks students will participate in a small graduation ceremony (date: TBA).

Sponsor(s): Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office and Mrs. Williams.
