Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) envisions a world in which students everywhere are empowered to respect others and choose to lead lives free from violence, substance abuse, and other dangerous behaviors.
Club Plans: D.A.R.E follows a curriculum that is based on the Socio-Emotional Learning Theory (SEL), which identifies fundamental, basic skill and developmental process needed for healthy development including:
SEL teaches youth to control their impulses and think about risks and consequences resulting in more responsible choices. This is a ten week course that is educated by Lieutenant Cody Portie, of Plaquemines Parish Sheriff Office. At the end of the ten weeks students will participate in a small graduation ceremony (date: TBA).
