On Saturday, March 22, 2025, a group of bright 5th and 6th grade ambitious students from BVES Boothville-Venice Elementary School attended a prestigious STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) program at Dillard University.
The program provided them with hands-on learning experiences, mentorship from industry professionals, and exposure to cutting-edge scientific concepts. The STEM program at Dillard University is designed to ignite a passion for science and technology among young students. It features interactive workshops, lab experiments, and guest lectures from leading scientists and engineers. For the BVES students, this was an opportunity to expand their knowledge beyond the classroom and engage in real-world problem-solving.
A huge thank you to Ms. Shanel Mathuthu from Phoenix High School for coordinating this program for Boothville-Venice Elementary and Ms. Paula Wilson, Dr. Rachelle Cyprian, and Ms. Pam Rigaud for assisting and chaperoning. The BVES students returned home with not only new knowledge but also a renewed enthusiasm for STEM. Many of them are now considering further studies in science and technology, and some have even expressed interest in applying to Dillard University's summer program.
