Responsibilities
As the school nurse I am available to assist in providing basic first aid as needed to the students to minimize absences due to illnesses or injuries. I also perform yearly recommended grade level vision and scoliosis screening with proper referrals for follow up treatment. I maintain up to date cumulative health records on students in compliance with the State Department of Education to assure school attendance.
Communication with parents, students, physicians, and school personnel on student health matters is an important part of the school nurse's job to assure the students health needs are met and resources made available if needed for the student within the school setting.
