Boothville-Venice Elementary School Honor Veterans

Boothville Venice Elementary School, hosted a Veterans Day Ceremony on Friday, November 7, 2013, in honor of the men and women who served our country unselfishly through the military. In attendance were seventeen veterans who represented different branches of the armed forces.

As part of the event, which was co-sponsored by the Lower Plaquemines Parish Girl Scout troops, the veterans enjoyed a late afternoon lunch, followed by a recognition ceremony. As each veteran entered the gym, which was decorated with patriotic art work from the BVES students, they were greeted with cheers and applause. Each Veteran introduced himself and gave a brief bio of their service to the four hundred person audience. The veterans then listened attentively to the nine winners of the “Veterans Essay Contest“. After, the veterans were presented with a plaque commemorating their service to our nation. The BVES choir concluded the ceremony with America The Beautiful.
